About The Position

This Corps Professional Development Associate Director position is primarily responsible for comprehensive Professional Development with a focus on Leadership Competencies and Professional Development Opportunities for students in the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight years of related experience.
  • Completed social science-based assessments such as MBTI, Clifton Strengths, Kolbe, etc.
  • Knowledge of human resource theory.
  • Knowledgeable in developing programs matching student interests with employer requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to use word processing, spread sheets, and data base programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD.
  • Professional experience in recruiting, career advising, career placement, career networking, employment job fairs.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams and/organizations (public, private, government).
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring others (e.g., subordinate personnel, team members, direct reports).
  • Knowledge of program assessments to measure impact.
  • Project planning skills to include resource identification and allocation.

Responsibilities

  • STUDENT DEVELOPMENT: Establishes and cultivates relationships with external entities (e.g., businesses, government agencies) that may provide professional opportunities for current students. Secures support of staff, faculty, and other interested stakeholders to develop and deliver Professional Development programs. This may include designing curriculum, developing resources, coordinating guest speakers or workshop facilitators, and implementing events. The events may include workshops, conferences, and individual training opportunities to provide students with opportunities to develop their Leadership Competencies and further their Professional Development. This includes communicating internally (students, faculty, staff) and externally (corporations, government agencies, alumni, etc.). Develop needs assessment, implementation and evaluation of the programs implemented under this Duty. Provides data and statistics related to Duties and Tasks sufficient for Impact and Assessment of Programs managed by this role. Responsible for budget development and financial management of fiscal resources allocated to these programs.
  • STUDENT COACHING & MENTORING: Provides individual coaching and mentoring for students in the HCEL Leadership & Character Development Program. May include coaching and mentoring on Leadership Competencies, Professional Development and developing / pursuing Career Opportunities.
  • LIAISON: Acts as HCEL’s primary liaison for faculty, staff, students, with the TAMU Career Center for the purpose of aligning Leadership Competencies, Professional Development with professional / employment opportunities. This may entail support for TAMU Career Fairs, corporate recruiting events, sharing information on internship, employment and graduate school opportunities. This includes outreach and liaison with external organizations to arrange, coordinate, and develop Professional Development opportunities for students.
