About The Position

The Graduate School at the University of Notre Dame seeks a highly motivated Program Director for Professional Development with organizational, communication, and facilitation skills to develop and implement professional development programming. The Graduate School has a crucial role in supporting graduate programs and helping ensure that Notre Dame graduate students and postdoctoral scholars become a force for good in the world. With many nationally and internationally recognized graduate programs, the Graduate School attracts top scholars from all over the globe. We are looking for someone who is driven, creative, and a collaborative partner to achieve the mission and vision of Our Lady’s University in advancing graduate studies. The Program Director for Professional Development will serve as a key member of the Professional Development Team, reporting to the Associate Dean for Professional Development and coordinating offerings and activities supported by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The Program Director for Professional Development will be responsible for developing, managing, and facilitating the portfolio of professional development programming offered by the Graduate School. The Program Director also liaise with Graduate Career Services and Graduate Life to ensure that coordinated professional development programming is offered and fostering additional partnerships across the University. The Program Director will be responsible for implementing the current strategic professional development portfolio that includes: Graduate student and postdoctoral professional development sessions Graduate and postdoctoral public outreach events Student and faculty mentorship programming Leadership programming Ethics programming Academic symposia co-sponsored campus-wide with other units Graduate alumni engagement as it relates to professional development As the Graduate School enacts a vision for a distinctively Notre Dame graduate experience, these current programs, and new initiatives, will play a central role in the holistic development of our graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The program director will be charged with assessing and modifying as necessary current activities, benchmarking of other universities, and incubating new initiatives in response to college and program needs. The Program Director will have the opportunity to develop and present new professional development opportunities within their area(s) of expertise.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • 3 to 4 years

  • Experience in facilitating training sessions or other types of large group meetings

Responsibilities

  • Developing, managing, and facilitating the portfolio of professional development programming offered by the Graduate School
