About The Position

The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and support. OOC departments work to create environments that help students grow, develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential education, and connections beyond the classroom. This position will be part of a centralized team that supports the active recruiting efforts of future cadets and their families to Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets. The Corps Communication Manager, under direction, assist the AD Corps Marketing and Communications by developing and managing strategic storytelling content that highlights cadet achievements and Corps initiatives across multiple platforms. This role ensures brand consistency through the creation, curations, and distribution of written and visual content, collaborates with internal teams and media partners, and oversee communication effort that support Corps recruiting and engagement goals. Additionally, the manager supervises marketing staff and student workers, maintains brand guidelines, coordinates project execution, and ensures all content aligns with Texas A&M’s standards and Corps strategic messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience in communications, marketing, media relations, multimedia/graphics design or WordPress development/design.
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to write professional communications, in the appropriate format and style, for multiple mediums including web, e-newsletter, social media and print.
  • Knowledge of media advisory and press release composition.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of assigned projects, including concepts, timelines, budgets, communications, deadlines, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Knowledge of WordPress and basic HTML skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with media.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of professional experience in a combination of marketing/communications, media relations, multimedia/graphics design, digital marketing and WordPress development/administration.
  • Two years of experience in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Content Curation, Creation, and Strategic Communication Develop and edit written content for use across all platforms, to include stories, press releases and newsletters, media advisories and articles highlighting cadet and Corps related initiatives and accomplishments. Tailors content by channel—website, social media, video, etc. Creates, curates, edits and produces storytelling content for distribution across multiple channels, both internally and externally. Develops and refines content in support of digital communications including social media, internal and external communications, and Corps website. Enhances awareness of Texas A&M Corps of Cadets through strategic and intentional storytelling for internal and external audiences. Provides support to the Corps AD of Marketing and Communications. Communicates with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication strategies for advertising and branding in support of the Corps of Cadets and the Office of the Commandant. In conjunction with Corps Recruiting, coordinates communication efforts that align with existing messaging, ensuring consistent voice and tone. Works closely with A&M news team on distribution of advisories and releases. Manages distribution of advisories and releases to local and regional media outlets.
  • Project Coordination Collaborates with visual and social media teams on content development, including script development and interview question generation. Collaborates with Distribution Channels Coordinator to modify and format content for the digital space. Arranges for commercial printing services as necessary to support public information programs and projects, specifying requirements and ensuring quality printer performance within cost and schedule. Coordinates staff actions with other university offices and departments and responds to their requests for departmental information. Serves as head of unit in the absence of the Corps AD of Marketing and Communications. Oversees collections of key performance indicators in support of recruitment marketing.
  • Management Maintain, update, and enforce the Corps brand style guidelines and ensure alignment with Texas A&M brand guidelines. Ensure written content conforms to journalistic and university standards and style and aligns with the voice and tone as established in the Corps’ brand guidelines. Provides Management and oversight of key corps members and units. To include the schedules, travel, and coordination for events. Manages and supervises the recruiting marketing specialists in execution of AD strategy. Manages and supervises student positions that handle copyrights and graphic designs. Assists the Assistant Director with management and oversight of key Corps members and unit assets.
  • Marketing Oversees creation of graphics to be used in all platforms. Oversees creation of advertisements for print and digital spaces, including recruitment advertisements. Manages graphics, marketing materials or information updates in support of Corps Recruiting. Performs other duties as assigned.
