About The Position

The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps located in Jacksonville, IL, is looking for a Corps Administrator. This individual will be pro-actively perform corps office manager duties to include coordinates and implements accounting functions, Human Resource functions, General Office functions and assist to corps ministry opportunities   Essential Functions   Ecumenical Responsibilities - this position acts as the lead pastor for congregational life at the Jacksonville Corps Community Center. Lead and participate in the guidance of the spiritual welfare of soldiers, adherents and those who attend. Provide leadership in church services, Bible study, programs for adults and youth. Provide pastoral and evangelistic visitation. Provide leadership for Corps Council in accordance with the guidelines of The Salvation Army. Coordination of seasonal church programs and visitation. Responsible to record all program statistics. Development, Fund Raising, Community Liaison and Social Services Responsibilities – this position oversees the overall program outreach for the Salvation Army’s internal and external programs and represents the Salvation Army in the community as a uniform wearing Salvationist. Provide leadership for the Advisory Board in accordance with the guidelines of The Salvation Army. Represent the Salvation Army at community events including service clubs, school functions, and ministerial associations. Network with community organizations and community development groups. Develop and implement community programs within the core programs (i.e. community center programs, social services programs, etc.) Oversee Social Services program and outreach to ensure in compliance and best practices. Oversight and implementation of Christmas programs and fund raising. Business Operations Responsibilities – Oversee and implement the overall business functions of the unit and is responsible to operate in good fiscal health. Financial – Process all accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking in accordance to the policies and financial minutes of The Salvation Army. Budget and trust funds management. Human Resources – Supervise and manage all employees in accordance to state and federal laws and in accordance with the policies and financial minutes of The Salvation Army. Prepare and process all HR items to DFB. Unit Operations – Provide oversight and implementation of daily operations for all entities of the unit Systems – Manage and maintain all Salvation Army systems to ensure compliance and accuracy of data. Volunteers – Oversee, maintain, and process volunteers in compliance with the rules and policies of The Salvation Army. Risk Management – Point of contact for all insurance claims for the unit. Responsible for the overall safety and risk management compliance of the physical property.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with one year of college level business or administrative training with two years’ work related (business/finance/accounting/management and/or office management) experience.
  • Combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Must understand business management, finances, and/or accounting.
  • Proficiency in computer spreadsheet software and word processing.
  • Good communication & organizational skills required.
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision.
  • Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must have appropriate drivers’ licenses (12-passenger van requires a class “E” for MO and “JO2" designation for IL) and pass TSA MVR check.
  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Government, State and community resources is helpful.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers with Microsoft experience a plus.
  • Capable of performing in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc.

  • Human Resources experience a plus.
  • LAN experience is a plus.
