About The Position

The Corporate Site Safety and Health Officer ensures the safety and health of personnel across complex environmental and construction projects nationwide. This role combines field oversight, regulatory compliance, and leadership to maintain high safety standards on-site. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to develop, implement, and enforce health and safety protocols. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple projects, support corporate safety initiatives, and respond to dynamic field conditions. With frequent travel and opportunities to influence corporate safety culture, this role offers both responsibility and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a health and safety officer, preferably with environmental or construction projects; USACE and EPA experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time to support projects ranging from 1 week to 1 month.
  • Proficient knowledge of USACE Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM 385-1-1; Class I SSHO qualification preferred.
  • Experience with health and safety procedures related to hazardous waste, air quality, wastewater, stormwater, spill prevention, decontamination, and inspections.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, state safety requirements, and project safety audits.
  • Certifications: 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, CPR/First Aid.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to lead teams in fast-paced environments and handle multiple concurrent projects.

Nice To Haves

  • 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Training, Excavation Competent Person, Fall Protection Competent Person, Confined Space Supervisor, and Rigging certifications.
  • Experience working with USACE and EPA projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and implement project-specific health and safety plans (APPs, AHAs, HASPs) to ensure safe execution.
  • Serve as the primary safety contact for project teams, subcontractors, and client personnel.
  • Conduct daily on-site safety briefings and maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection logs, non-conformance records, and corrective action reports.
  • Monitor compliance with corporate and regulatory safety procedures, updating protocols as needed.
  • Lead emergency response procedures and provide guidance on hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Participate in internal and client-facing meetings regarding safety performance and project health.
  • Coordinate with corporate management to ensure alignment with overall health and safety strategy.
