About The Position

The Associate Broker in our Minneapolis Construction team plays a key role in supporting the broking and servicing of client risks for Builder’s Risk, Master Builder’s Risk, and Contractor’s Equipment programs. Operating within established guidelines and under the supervision of experienced team members, this role applies technical knowledge to analyze exposures, assist in structuring risk, and contribute to the delivery of tailored insurance solutions. The Associate Broker helps deliver superior results by leveraging deep industry-specific expertise to support clients’ business and risk management needs. Brokers serve as the firm’s intellectual capital, working closely with clients to assess, model, and structure risk in order to mitigate their total cost of risk. In this role, you will support the process of bringing client risks to market by preparing submissions, liaising with insurance carriers, analyzing data, and assisting in negotiations to secure competitive quotations. While core responsibilities remain consistent, each placement presents unique challenges, offering a dynamic and engaging work environment.

Requirements

  • Completed a prior WTW internship
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Demonstration of strong time and task management skills

Responsibilities

  • Gather information and analytics to assess and evaluate client risks to support the placement of client risks into the market.
  • Create Loss Summaries, review binders and check policies for accuracy and assist senior brokers with servicing activities.
  • Support binder reviews, invoicing, and surplus lines documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • With guidance from more experienced brokers, prepare draft submission documents and finalize materials for delivery.
  • Review quotes against specifications and develop side-by-side comparisons with support from senior team members.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and client-facing materials.
  • Support the development of client and prospect presentations to secure new business and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Assist with deliverables for Client Renewal Strategy Meetings and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Research market solutions to help identify and develop optimal risk strategies for clients.
  • Facilitate initial introductions to carriers and trading partners.
  • Build foundational knowledge of core insurance principles and brokerage concepts.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, compliance procedures, and internal processes.
  • Accurately record and maintain data in appropriate systems, including utilization of the Broking Platform.
  • Obtain the required insurance license within ninety (90) days of hire (as recorded in Company business records).
  • Obtain and maintain an active surplus lines license for your resident state within 120 days: (a) your date of hire, if you already hold a resident state insurance license at that time; or (b) obtaining your resident state insurance license, if you do not hold one at the time of hire.
