About The Position

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Come help First Citizens build for the future! The Compliance Governance team is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive student to intern with our team for summer of 2026. Our intern will gain practical experience in compliance governance and document management while further developing their communication and organizational skills. You will be exposed to compliance-related processes and corporate governance best practices. This position is ideal for a student who is looking to develop a career in compliance, governance or related fields.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects.
  • Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
  • Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events.
  • Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
  • Be assigned a project, designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that you will present at the close of the internship.
  • Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship
  • Document and Data Management
  • Assist with reviewing, organizing, and maintaining compliance or governance-related documents.
  • Support document lifecycle activities, including tracking updates, revisions, and approvals.
  • Help ensure documentation remains accurate, consistent, and aligned with current policies or standards.
  • SharePoint or System Administration
  • Support the maintenance of team sites or shared folders for improved accessibility and collaboration.
  • Help organize and upload materials, ensuring content is up to date and easy to navigate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve site usability and streamline information sharing.
  • Research and Analysis
  • Conduct research on assigned topics to support team initiatives, projects, or reports.
  • Compile and summarize information for management or team discussions.
  • Assist in identifying trends, best practices, or process improvement opportunities.
  • Project Support
  • Participate in team projects, contributing ideas, documentation, and logistical support.
  • Help prepare materials such as presentations, reports, and meeting summaries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed to support ongoing initiatives.
  • Administrative and Operational Assistance
  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, coordination, and document filing.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, or tracking of key deliverables as requested.
  • Help ensure timely follow-up on assigned tasks and project milestones.
