About The Position

The Corporate Information Technology (IT) Director is a key member of Volm’s leadership team responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of IT applications and solutions across physical and remote locations in Canada and the United States. The IT Director works with leaders across the organization to develop technology plans, policies, and procedures that align with company goals and standards. This role involves building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing IT team across multiple sites, fostering accountability, setting a positive example, and promoting a collaborative work environment. The director is responsible for personnel development through hiring, training, performance management, coaching, progressive discipline, termination, and similar personnel management activities. They set goals, plan work, and allocate tasks to ensure efficient utilization of resources and alignment with organizational objectives, promoting a positive work environment that encourages employee engagement and retention. The director motivates and engages the team to accomplish organizational objectives, maintains open and effective communication channels, monitors team performance, addresses issues with timely feedback, coaching, training, and guidance, and resolves conflicts to drive success, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Furthermore, the IT Director directs strategic IT operations including computer systems, networks, programs, infrastructure, cybersecurity, help-desk support, databases, and other technologies. They stay updated with industry best practices, identifying, vetting, and recommending emerging technologies. The role drives the planning and maintenance of data technology operations (hardware, software, telecommunications), ensures compliance with government and industry regulations, and manages software licensing. The director mitigates system outages, monitors performance, performs root cause analysis, and provides after-action reports. They oversee the development, testing, and maintenance of a robust Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan and coordinate the transition from legacy to new IT platforms.

  • Knowledge of complex information technology systems concepts, system analysis, and environment management normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field; and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in implementation and management of enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications and permissions (Microsoft 365 preferred), networking, server administration, cyber security, help desk functions, Active Directory management, software licensing, and other IT systems and operations.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading and developing employees in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
  • When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Cisco preferred.

  • Drive the planning and maintenance of the organization’s data technology operations including hardware, software, and telecommunications.
  • Ensure the organization’s IT systems and operations comply with government and industry regulations.
  • Ensure proper software licensing, renewals, and compliance for IT systems across the organization.
  • Mitigate system outages, monitor system performance, perform root cause analysis, and provide after-action reports when events occur.
  • Oversee the development, testing, and maintenance of a robust Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan to minimize downtime in the event of a crisis.
  • Coordinate and implement the transition from legacy IT platforms and systems to new platforms and systems.
  • Develop, document, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Negotiate and manage service level agreements with third-party vendors.
