The Corporate HR Director is the strategic HR advisor to senior leadership of corporate business areas. This role provides companywide HR leadership across Meijer’s corporate functions, while also ensuring the HR strategies and projects are executed with clarity, alignment, and discipline. The Corporate HR Director delivers trusted counsel to senior leaders, leads complex and companywide change initiatives, and helps shape culture and leadership presence across the Walker Campus. In close partnership with the CHRO, this role leads the development of critical materials, including board level deliverables, senior leadership team content, and companywide leadership communications. The Corporate HR Director also plays a key leadership role in how HR technology, automation, and AI enabled solutions are introduced, governed and change managed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Human Resources experience with proven results, including previous leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business is preferred.
  • Extensive HR leadership experience supporting senior leaders
  • Experience leading companywide, cross-functional change
  • Effective influencer, coach, and communicator with strong presence
  • Experience conducting and managing corporate investigations of complex/sensitive workplace complaints
  • Data-driven decision-maker with sound judgment and partnership experience with TLR/legal

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR advisor to senior leaders of corporate business areas—providing strategic counsel on organization design, talent, leader effectiveness, and culture; maintain a consistent leadership presence in staff meetings and 1:1s
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CHRO: shape, coordinate, and quality‑check materials for senior leadership forums, HR communications, budgets, all‑staff events, and board‑level deliverables
  • Anticipate talent risks and opportunities; apply sound judgement on complex or escalating issues, particularly those that require a coordinated response
  • Lead large‑scale, cross‑functional change ensuring change management plans are clear, measurable, and team centered
  • Partner with HR COEs, Technology, and business leaders to design, deploy, and drive adoption of HR technology and process changes that improve leader experience and deliver measurable value
  • Use data and insights to diagnose root causes and drive systematic, repeatable solutions across corporate functions
  • Provide strategic input on director‑and‑above leadership needs and priorities; inform program design and senior leadership forums
  • Consult on leadership expectations and cultural impact for Walker Campus events; partner with the Corporate Campus Engagement Committee so leaders are visible and reinforcing Meijer values
  • Manage and/or partner in the investigation and resolution of employee relations issues
