About The Position

The Athens Orthopedic Clinic Team includes 400 dedicated clinicians, technologists, and administrators whom serve over 237,000 patients each year. We are a thriving, physician-led, independent orthopedic practice that has been committed to the North Georgia community for over 60 years. Our practice encompasses 10 regional locations, three wholly owned ambulatory surgery centers, MRI/CT Imaging Centers, a comprehensive Outpatient Therapy Network, a premier Occupational Medicine Center, and Northeast Georgia’s only Orthopedic Urgent Care Centers. Our services operate 7-days per week to deliver on our promise that “access matters”. The AOC contributions to medical education and research are extensive, with numerous ongoing studies and over 150 medical students hosted in the past decade. Many of our physicians serve as Teaching Faculty at the University of Georgia School of Medicine, and the Medical College of Georgia where they play a pivotal role in training and preparing the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. The Director of the AOC Ambulatory Surgery Center Division will oversee the day-to-day operations of our three wholly-owned ASCs including but not limited to quality assurance, management and retention of associates, oversight of all regulatory and accreditation matters, accountability for a financially-viable supply chain, and ensuring a best in class patient experience. This position will also support the opening of additional surgery centers.

Requirements

  • RN license in the state of Georgia.
  • BSN required; MSN preferred
  • Perioperative and management experience required
  • Licensing, accreditation, & ASC development experience required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of our Ambulatory Surgery Centers across the AOC Service Area with a never ending focus on quality assurance, perfect adherence to standards of care, and the recruitment, retention and development of team members.
  • Responsible for maintaining all applicable accreditation, regulatory and credentialing affairs to ensure all ASCs receive the highest of accolades and accommodations.
  • Manages quality reporting and submits relevant data in compliance with governing body regulations.
  • Partners with AOC Facilities Management to ensure the ASCs support systems operate at the desired levels.
  • Partners with the Medical Director for each ASC on continual performance improvement.
  • Monitors and continually improves the overall block schedules to maximize operating and financial results.
  • Partners with the AOC Operations and Leadership team on reducing the number of cases surgeons are having to perform in higher cost hospital settings.
  • Develops and maintains system-wide initial and ongoing team training, orientation, and competencies. Coordinates with local leadership and resources to deliver training. Manages associates concerns and questions in a professional, consistent, and timely manner.
  • Establishes team goals and communicates performance metrics to team members. Conducts onsite meetings to review important communications.
  • Designs and oversees best in class patient experience. Appropriately manages escalated patient concerns. Reports escalated patient concerns or incidents to appropriate and relevant departments and team members. Addresses any issue to prevent future repetition of identified concerns.
  • Demonstrates leadership and appropriate management of associates, budget, operations, and issues within scope of control. Develop, monitor, and control the staffing needs, operations budget, and capital budget.
  • Recruits, interviews, and coordinates job shadows and presents candidates and staffing needs to administration. Timely reports staffing changes to HR department to ensure adequate staffing and timely backfill of open roles. Responsible to interview, select, and orient new hires to any ASC location successfully as support for onsite leaders.
  • Coordinates all required maintenance on equipment and facilities according to appropriate procedures.
  • Manages associates to successful alignment with job responsibilities and addresses any issues appropriately in the progressive corrective action process. Partners with Human Resources for appropriate management of gross misconduct, consistent unrectified poor performance, or escalating counterproductive behavior. Promotes associate engagement and development.
  • Coordinates with Accounting and Finance team to optimize ASC Vendor utilization to ensure low costs, best pricing and appropriate supply ordering for each location. Develops, implements and maintains “just in time” inventory tracking procedures which align with finance department reporting needs.
  • Promotes and follows compliance expectations. Ensures associates consistently meet compliance and privacy training and re-training deadlines. Maintain onsite policies and procedures compliant with expectations.
  • Capable of performance performing onsite ASC manager or staff functions during absences and periods of needs.
  • Prepares for AAAHC and accreditation surveys, QA/PI, Emergency Preparedness, and Infection Control Management. Ensure Triple A and Quad A compliance.
