About The Position

The Director of Procurement must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual who will provide subject matter expertise, drive operational excellence and mitigate risk across CRB’s procurement operations for design services and equipment procurement. As the Director of Equipment Procurement, you will lead a centralized team of procurement professionals dedicated to delivering strategic sourcing solutions that align with the company's broad organizational goals. Your leadership will ensure consistency in procurement practices and drive collaboration across business units, harnessing collective expertise to secure best-in-class equipment and services. By cultivating a high-performing, unified team, you will optimize sourcing strategy, leverage scale, and enhance supplier relationships, ensuring CRB remains at the forefront of innovation and operational excellence. You will support companywide procurement operations through development and continuous improvement and standardization of systems, procedures and tools to industry best practices while directly engaging in procurement activities to stay in touch with the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 15 years experience in strategic purchasing / project management
  • Strong business management, sales, developmental and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of key supply base within served markets, contract strategies, and risk management
  • Experience in expediting equipment during challenging supply chain conditions
  • Experience managing and developing talent and teams
  • Technical proficiency in commonly specified equipment for life science and biopharma industries
  • Thorough knowledge of contract and purchase order terms and conditions
  • Deep understanding of contracts risk and risk management
  • Strong leadership, verbal and written communications and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook) and Dynamics 365
  • Works well under pressure with the ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • On-site construction project experience a plus
  • Familiarity with major equipment vendors in the pharmaceutical and / or food and beverage industries
  • Working knowledge of procurement software and web-based platforms
  • Aptitude for developing systems, procedures and tools

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Team / Project Performance in line with Business Plan Goals.

  • Interface with Operations Team for consistent use of Project Execution delivery methods.

  • Manage and continuously improve contract terms and conditions and other procurement document-package content
  • Mentor/ support procurement team in resolving terms and conditions with equipment vendors
  • Consult legal and operations groups as needed to support companywide procurement operations
  • Benchmark ongoing market analysis and trending
  • Develop and lead procurement-centric training programs for procurement staff, project teams and other stakeholders
  • Establish and lead account management programs for key equipment suppliers
  • Support proposals and sales presentations by providing procurement content and representing CRB in client interviews
  • Develop and maintain robust supplier evaluation and performance monitoring processes to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of digital procurement tools and platforms, enhancing transparency and data-driven decision-making across the procurement lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to identify emerging technology trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance equipment procurement strategies.
  • Oversee risk management protocols related to equipment procurement, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Negotiate strategic supplier agreements to maximize value and long-term partnership potential for CRB.
  • Facilitate post-project reviews with procurement and project teams to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent the procurement function in executive leadership meetings, providing insights and recommendations to support organizational priorities.
