Who we are looking for Who we are looking for This MBA Summer Associate internship is intended to be a 3-month role that will support the organic and inorganic growth of Re:Build Manufacturing through market and technical research, financial analyses, and data-driven insights. This is a great opportunity for hands-on exposure to corporate strategy, M&A, and the broader industrial sector. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and brings a technical foundation that helps them understand how products are designed and manufactured. They are driven by a desire to dive deep into manufacturing methods, technological innovations, and business models. They are seeking to apply their MBA training to more strategic, investment-oriented work, shifting from hands-on technical roles to evaluating businesses, markets, and long-term value creation. They appreciate long-term thinking, compounding returns, and making thoughtful, analytically grounded decisions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an MBA or other relevant graduate business degree, with foundational coursework in financial and managerial accounting completed or in progress; candidates with a technical or engineering background, including manufacturing experience in our key end markets (aerospace & defense, robotics & intelligent automation, medical, energy & environment, and electrification) are preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general financial documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Fluent in English.
  • The position requires the ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and ratios. The candidate should be comfortable applying mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and basic algebra to practical business scenarios.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists. The role requires interpreting and following instructions delivered in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule format. A strong capacity for critical thinking and applying common sense in both routine and unfamiliar situations is expected.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint—is required.
  • The candidate should be proficient in using generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, to automate tasks, analyze data, and generate content. The candidate should also be comfortable working with spreadsheets, including data entry, formatting, and basic analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for success in this role.
  • Ability to travel ~10% as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform market and technical assessments to identify specific investment theses that will drive Re:Build’s capital allocation strategy.
  • Review new acquisition opportunities and draft initial investment recommendations.
  • Support diligence workstreams for active M&A projects.
  • Proactively research and identify potential acquisition targets outside of marketed processes.
  • Conduct reviews of institutional investor portfolios to identify which of their investments have the strongest overlap with Re:Build’s capabilities and offerings.
  • Monitor fundraising activity for hard-tech startups and generate insights to drive corporate strategy.
  • You will seek to automate this process to the greatest extent possible.
