About The Position

The purpose of this position is to serve as legal counsel to one or more divisions in the company which requires an understanding of the clients’ business and the ability to quickly and efficiently provide the necessary legal guidance to maintain the legal health of the division(s) by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a J.D. from a Law School of recognized standing plus five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bar admission is required.
  • Require In-depth working knowledge of corporate and business law.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state.

Responsibilities

  • Working under supervision of General Counsel, carries out various legal assignments as directed.
  • Assists the General Counsel in organizing and directing the corporation’s interest from a legal standpoint.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, leases, formal agreements and other legal instruments to safeguard the corporation’s interest.
  • Serves as lead legal point of contact for select divisions in the company.
  • Responsible for the legal health of those specific divisions.
  • Maintains close contact with clients and attends regular business staff meetings.
  • Manages litigation associated with those divisions and deals with all customer communications and strategy.
  • Supports and advises YKK Corporation of America and its domestic and international subsidiaries in all general corporate legal and business affairs, such as antitrust, corporate governance, patent and trademark matters, compliance, commercial and corporate transactions, counterfeiting, litigation, advertising, copyrights, product liability, customs, environmental concerns, sales agreements and trade regulations.
  • Consults with management on business issues and corporate policies and procedures, implementing the application of legal concepts to complex business transactions.
  • Reviews the legal implications on mergers and acquisitions for the Corporation.
  • Assists with the preparation and presentation of educational seminars to management regarding legal issues.
  • Supervises and manages activity and billing of outside counsel.
  • Settles disputes and administer other legal matters.
