We invite you to do the best work of your life with us at Kate Farms. This position is a temporary, fixed-term assignment to provide continuity during an employee’s planned leave. The role is anticipated to begin in mid-late March 2026 and continue for approximately five (5) months. This role will primarily focus on drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering a wide variety of customer and vendor contracts to ensure that the company's legal interests are protected. This role also involves advising on privacy and data protection, conducting legal research, and managing similar legal risks. Success in this role will be measured primarily by operational continuity of core legal workflows, stakeholder satisfaction, and effective management of existing priorities.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on transactions, contracts, and privacy.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Immediate proficiency in contract drafting, review, and administration.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong commitment to company mission and values.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to respectfully share and accept feedback willingly from all levels of the organization.
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 12 pounds.
  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee will be required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
  • Possess the ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with comprehensive contract management platforms such as HighQ is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including customer agreements, supplier contracts, manufacturing agreements, distribution agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Manage day-to-day contract administration of assigned agreements and oversee the contract lifecycle within existing frameworks.
  • Ensure contracts align with the company's legal and business requirements and protect its interests while minimizing legal risks.
  • Assist with the development of playbooks, templates, and forms to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Ensure timely elevation of risks and issues to the General Counsel or other members of the Legal Team.
  • Serve as a key and supportive partner to our commercial deal team members, providing proactive and timely communications to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear documentation of ongoing matters to facilitate a smooth transition upon the return of incumbent employee.
  • Assist with the company's privacy program, providing support to respond to privacy rights requests.
  • Assist in drafting and maintaining privacy policies.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support business operations and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the General Counsel independently and in conjunction with other members of the legal department.
