About The Position

As a Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal expertise across corporate and commercial matters, ensuring Riverside operates responsibly, mitigates risk, and supports our mission to empower educators and unlock every student’s potential. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold compliance, strengthen governance, and deliver practical legal solutions that enable innovation and growth. In this role, you will: Review, draft, and negotiate agreements (vendor, client, data privacy, service, and NDAs). Execute redlines and recommend strategic approaches to secure favorable positions. Suggest and implement process improvements within the legal function. Develop and deliver mini-trainings on compliance topics for internal stakeholders. Build strong relationships as a trusted legal advisor to internal teams. Ensure timely contract reviews and adherence to service-level agreements. You will join a collaborative team committed to integrity, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact in education.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in a corporate compliance or legal environment (including internships or clerkships).
  • Strong analytical and research skills with ability to interpret and apply legal principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and drafting.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance and compliance issues.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CLM or compliance management software.
  • Experience delivering compliance training to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Compensation: A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $80,000- $90,000 USD plus applicable bonus.
