About The Position

the Amazon Books Legal team!

In this role, you'll be the primary lawyer for Books subscription programs like
Kindle Unlimited. Working directly with the business, you'll provide day-to-day
and strategic advice on program development, content licensing, and regulatory
and contractual compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Experience working at a corporate law firm
• Experience in intellectual property or content licensing
• Experience in digital media, publishing, or subscription services
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in fast-paced environments
• Experience with product launches and go-to-market legal strategies
• Experience managing consumer disputes and litigation

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal counsel for Books subscription programs, including Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading
• Provide legal guidance on program development, pricing, and regulatory compliance
• Negotiate and draft content licensing agreements with rightsholders
• Manage consumer disputes and coordinate with outside counsel and internal litigation teams on pending litigation
• Partner with cross-functional teams (PR, public policy) on go-to-market strategies
• Advise on AI-powered features
