Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and GAAP expertise
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical rigor, and sound judgment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Construction or distribution industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and financial close process
  • Deliver reliable reporting that supports executive decision-making and EOS scorecard visibility
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and accounting policies
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and multi-state sales tax regulations
  • Oversee audit readiness and external audit coordination
  • Protect company assets through disciplined financial governance
  • Provide strategic oversight of Accounts Receivable and Collections
  • Partner with Credit Managers to reduce exposure and minimize write-offs
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership on delinquent accounts, credit holds, lien rights, and legal remedies
  • Ensure disciplined Accounts Payable processes, including positive pay and discrepancy resolution
  • Strengthen working capital performance to support growth initiatives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
  • Establish clear expectations aligned with the Shepherd Compass
  • Create accountability within financial processes and reporting structures
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and reporting efficiency
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements
  • Leverage data and analytics to improve visibility and performance
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects aligned with company Big Rocks
