As owner and operator of the vessels, we provide skilled officers and crews dedicated to the safe, reliable, and economical operation of our fleet. We are looking for a Corporate Communications Intern who will help support the Communications team with social media, content development, campaign optimization, and reporting and metrics management. As a member of the Corporate Communications team, the Communications Intern will have opportunities to expand their skillset. Collaboration and support are a common theme across this team and in the organization.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok, also tools such as Sprout Social.
  • Proficient working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of InDesign.
  • Proficient in basic video editing.
  • Proficiency with MS SharePoint an asset. Top-notch storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in corporate responsibility, sustainability, environment, governance and social impact.
  • Desire to work for a fast-paced, results-based company.
  • Hard working individual and team player with a great attitude that is passionate about digital media and measurement.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with high energy and a very positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills being able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and assisting the team.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and optimize digital media campaigns which includes content coordination with other business units such as crewing, assets & technology and HR to uncover the content that tells Seaspan’s unique story.
  • Writing, editing, laying out, and posting content for various communication pieces and audiences that is consistent with Seaspan’s voice, mission, and values.
  • Monitoring online traffic, audience response, and engagement and evaluating content performance across platforms.
  • Frequently creating and curating pictures and videos, in collaboration with other departments, to build digital assets.
  • Following industry-related news and generating ideas around trending topics, and best practices, using new technologies, tools, and programs.
  • Compile data across all media platforms for ongoing reporting (across lines of business) which will include analysis for insights and recommended optimizations.
  • Support various employee engagement and employer brand initiatives, such as lunch & learns, email bulletins, and event coordination.
  • Support the management and optimization of content libraries on the corporate Intranet.
