About The Position

The Corporate Clinical Education Specialist leads, designs, and evaluates system-wide clinical education and competency programs that enable safe, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders who present with complex behavioral and medical needs. The role drives onboarding, continuing education, competency verification, practice change, and quality outcomes across the system, aligning education with regulatory/accreditation standards and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, Behavioral Health, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Five years experience in clinical education/professional development (system, division/market, or facility level), including competency validation and program design.
  • Expertise in adult learning, curriculum design, simulation, and competency assessment in hospital settings.
  • Proficiency in de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques; ability to train others.
  • Strong knowledge of patient rights and documentation standards; ability to operationalize regulatory requirements into practical workflows.
  • Ability to integrate trauma-informed frameworks and person-centered approaches across curricula and practice.
  • Collaborative leadership, data analysis, and change management skills; comfort partnering with behavior analysts and mental health professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess educational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association//American Red Cross required, must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from date of hire.
  • De-escalation training within 30 days after hire.
  • Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility.

  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain competency frameworks that address behavioral crisis management, medical comorbidities, and safe care transitions.
  • Design curricula that embed trauma-informed principles and promote staff resilience and patient safety.
  • Ensure all education aligns with current regulatory standards for restraint/seclusion, documentation, and monitoring.
  • Implement simulation-based training for high-risk scenarios, including behavioral escalation and emergency medical interventions.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health and allied professionals to integrate evidence-based practices into interdisciplinary education.
  • Lead system-wide clinical education programs that integrate evidence-based practices and adult learning principles.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure education supports care for patients with neurodevelopmental disorders across all service lines.
  • Conduct environmental scans to identify emerging trends and translate evidence into timely education initiatives.
  • Promote patient rights and communication accessibility through targeted education.
  • Equip staff with strategies for family engagement and shared decision-making.
  • Implement training for post-crisis debriefs and recovery-oriented communication.
  • Ensures all activities adhere to healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.
  • Align education programs with regulatory and accrediting bodies, and organizational policies.
  • Support policy development and updates for behavioral health and patient safety practices.
  • Use audit data and incident reports to drive improvements in documentation and safety outcomes.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements.
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments.
  • Participates in relevant workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, healthcare regulations, and best practices.
  • Design continuing education pathways that meet licensure and certification requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training in de-escalation and workplace violence prevention.
  • Mentor staff in evidence-based practice and research utilization.
  • Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.
  • Adhere to established education budgets and ensure ROI through measurable outcomes.
  • Optimize delivery methods to ensure cost-effective and scalable education programs.
  • Link program impact to improvements in safety, retention, and operational efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
