Responsibilities The Collection Specialist / Subrogation Attorney will supervise two associates and manage a large portfolio of recovery and subrogation cases. The role combines legal analysis with practical negotiation and leadership skills. You'll oversee case resolution strategy, direct negotiations, and coordinate with insurance carriers, legal counsel, and internal departments to achieve optimal recovery outcomes. Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD), active bar admission in Missouri.
• Experience in collections, subrogation, insurance recovery, or commercial claims preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry preferred.
• Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills required.
• Ability to manage a large, diverse caseload with competing priorities.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills — able to secure favorable settlements while maintaining professionalism.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• This position requires being able to sit and remain focused and motivated for long periods of time.
• Being able to multitask between the computer, phone, and different projects is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a staff of two collection associates.
• Oversee and manage high-volume collections and subrogation caseloads involving freight damage, cargo loss, and liability recovery.
• Analyze liability, damages, and contractual terms to determine recovery potential.
• Negotiate settlements and payment agreements with insurers, shippers, and other responsible parties.
• Draft and review demand letters, settlement agreements, and related legal correspondence.
• Collaborate with in-house and outside counsel when litigation is necessary.
• Monitor statutes of limitation, ensure compliance with legal standards, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Report recovery metrics and performance results to management.
• Provide guidance on legal and procedural best practices within the department.
