We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Accountant working for our Government Accounting team in Carlsbad, CA! The Corporate Government Accounting team is responsible for maintaining the company government contract cost accounting framework and acts as the primary point of contact for DCAA/DCMA and/or Contract Audits. The day-to-day The Corporate Accountant performs internal reviews and recurring analyses that require strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to be adaptable and flexible to constant changing business and audit requirements in both a technical and non-technical environment. The Corporate Accountant will join a dynamic team of finance/accounting professionals who support the following critical functions for the company:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field along with 2-3 plus years of experience in Accounting, Internal/External Audit
  • High level of competence with various computer financial applications (e.g., MS Excel) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) is highly desired for this hands-on technical accounting role.
  • Some proven ability to understand audit requests, research pertinent regulations, collect and organize company financial data to support audit requests and work interactively with other functional groups.
  • Strong organizational skills including organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and ability to build relationships with others within the company.
  • Attention to detail and high quality threshold for one’s work products and solutions
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be able to work onsite in the Carlsbad, CA office (hybrid)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate journal entries for the month-end close, primarily focused on appropriate cost allocation for government regulatory requirements and GAAP reporting within the Oracle/SAP system.
  • Support routine DCAA and external public accounting firm audits including Incurred Cost audits Forward Pricing audits, and interim and year-end testing, by gathering requested data from functional accounting groups.
  • Support Government Accounting process improvement initiatives such as maintaining and describing procedures for key processes
  • Perform internal compliance reviews for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of expenses per FAR Part 31 Cost Principles
  • Support senior staff’s calculation of ad hoc analyses and cost impacts by capturing relevant research, reporting, and transactional data needed to complete analyses.
  • Take a primary role in preparing the company's Incurred Cost Claim for annual submission to the government.
