About The Position

EJ has an immediate opening for 3rd Shift Core Utility. EJ is a family-owned company with global operations, headquartered in East Jordan, Michigan, where it was founded in 1883. The company is a leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of access solutions for water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications, and utility networks. The Core Utility position involves setting up and running core machines in the Mold Department.

Requirements

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and be able to successfully perform under pressure.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Responsibilities

  • Set up the core machines (pre-op inspections, lighting shell machine, refill sand, box changes, etc.)
  • Run the core machines whenever possible
  • Keep up with downtime throughout the shift
  • Check in cores and do core inventory if needed
  • General clean-up in the Core Room daily
  • Help do ductile time or break relief as needed.
  • Clean the screen on the sand hopper for the shell machine daily
  • Communicate to the supervisor if there are any issues with the core machines, boxes, core quality, etc.
  • Have paperwork filled out and turned in 30 mins before the end of the shift
  • Clean up at the end of each shift
  • Change out catalyst and resin barrels as needed
  • Provides suggestions for improvement of all our systems
