About The Position

The Core Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of core customers, owning day-to-day transactional business while ensuring reliable execution. This role blends customer-facing sales activity with carrier capacity procurement, requiring strong communication, pricing judgment, and operational follow-through. The Core Account Manager is responsible for growing existing accounts, securing transportation capacity, and delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience from quote to delivery.

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, or a similar customer-facing role
  • Proven ability to manage transactional customer relationships
  • Experience working directly with carriers to secure capacity
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple loads and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with pricing, margins, and real-time market dynamics
  • Customer-focused mindset with a sense of ownership

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned core customer accounts
  • Manage inbound and outbound transactional opportunities, including spot pricing and repeat lanes
  • Provide accurate, competitive freight quotes aligned with market conditions
  • Identify opportunities to grow wallet share through lane expansion, volume growth, and value-added solutions
  • Build trusted relationships by understanding customer shipping needs, service expectations, and constraints
  • Communicate proactively with customers on load status, changes, and issue resolution
  • Source and secure carrier capacity to cover customer freight across assigned accounts
  • Negotiate rates with carriers while balancing margin, service, and reliability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with core and spot market carriers
  • Ensure loads are properly booked, dispatched, and tracked through completion
  • Monitor shipments in transit and proactively address service disruptions
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve issues related to claims, service failures, or exceptions
  • Own the full lifecycle of assigned shipments from pricing through delivery
  • Maintain accurate load, pricing, and customer data in the TMS/CRM
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, carrier standards, and customer requirements
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and service enhancements
