About The Position

The Student Connection and Community (SCC) Coordinator assists in coordinating activities and functions of the Student Experience through events and programming as a member of the Student Connection and Community team. The position assists in planning and implementation of programs that promote student development as well as spirit, pride, and tradition within the University community. The position provides support with university- wide traditions, assists in managing a significant budget, and ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with departmental and institutional priorities. The coordinator co-advises the Programming and Activities Board (PAB) and serves on various department and university committees. The position reports to the Associate Director, Student Connection and Community and is primarily based on the Downtown campus, with additional university-wide responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of an advanced degree, preferably in Higher and Post-secondary Education, College Student Personnel, Public Administration or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student organization and student government advising strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in advising college/university student organizations.
  • Track record of creating and executing diverse student programming within a higher education or similar context, including workshops, presentations, and events.
  • Proven ability to train students for leadership roles and cultivate strong relationships with both student and professional staff.
  • Expertise in effectively coordinating and prioritizing tasks for oneself and others, with a comprehensive understanding of university policy interpretation.
  • Strong aptitude in establishing and nurturing productive working relationships.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and comprehension of accounting principles.
  • Substantial experience collaborating with diverse populations.
  • Documented evidence showcasing exceptional communication skills.
  • Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices, project management and coordination of activities
  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities and implementing research
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the advisor to the Programming and Activities Board (PAB), advising several PAB committees
  • Serve as a part of the Clubs and Organizations team, supporting student clubs and organizations across ASU.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of programs that promote student development as well as spirit, pride, and tradition within the University community.
  • Support clubs and organizations as they navigate the club registration process.
  • Provides advice and guidance in planning and implementing a consistent, diverse, and robust lineup of events throughout the campus.
  • Be a main point of contact to Clubs and Organizations as they have questions or need guidance.
  • Develop undergraduate student leaders involved with PAB.
  • Assists in managing a significant budget and ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with departmental and institutional priorities.
  • Develops and executes university-wide traditions
  • Supports leadership training and organizational management opportunities for PAB student leaders through workshops, seminars, and other professional development.
  • Supports Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) divisional initiatives and events inclusive of Welcome Week, Pitchfork Awards, and more.
  • Helps promote Spirit, Pride, and Tradition among colleagues and students by implementing and participating in programs that promote affinity to ASU.
  • Represents the SCC by serving on various department and university committees; attend seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Supports relationships with university and external partners, including Aramark, Sun Devil Athletics, NACA, sponsors, and more.
  • Work location is primarily at the Downtown Campus; however, incumbents may occasionally be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses
  • Performs other duties as assigned
