About The Position

The Office of Student Financial Aid at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Student Financial Aid in Boca Raton, FL. The Office of Student Financial Aid’s mission is to offer a comprehensive financial aid program that attempts to meet the financial needs of all University students. Helping students and families navigate the financial aid process this role serves as a liaison for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion with the Admissions Department. The Coordinator manages FAFSA activity, creates outreach opportunities to high schools and current students on FAFSA completion and timelines, as well as conducting FAFSA workshops.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

  • OFFICIAL SEALED TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED: Final candidate will be required to have official, sealed transcripts and original NACES evaluation, if applicable, sent from their educational institution to Human Resources prior to the start of employment.
  • PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS REQUIRED: Selected candidates must successfully complete and pass all employment screenings prior to the start of employment. Employment screenings may include a criminal background check (level I and level II), motor vehicle check, credit check, reference checks, alcohol, and drug screening check.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all FAFSA activity to ensure students are not over or under awarded in accordance with Federal Regulations.
  • Manages Daily ISIR to determine the necessary changes to existing FAFSAs and correct any erroneous changes made by the applicant for all campuses.
  • Manages CPS corrections for accuracy and completion and also contacts appropriate counselor for immediate correction for all campuses.
  • Manages SUSPENDED Report to process multiple FAFSA issues and locate FAFSAs with identity errors for students.
  • Instructs and assists students in correcting application errors either through the Registration Office, Admissions Office, or CPS as required.
  • Processes verification as needed and notifies awarded students and counselors that additional documents are required and additional processing such as verification has been requested by CPS.
  • Contacts NSLDS/COD in regards to conflicting personal identity information and provides the necessary documents for processing and evaluates FOCUS reports and identifies exceptions to automated loading of records in areas of any ISIR C-flag issues that require processing.
  • Counsels students and parents on a regular basis to assist with Financial Aid and FAFSA questions and assists the Customer Service area at peak times on an as needed basis.
  • Reviews and processes Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals and requests for Professional Judgment.
  • Makes final decision as to students' eligibility for financial aid for assigned students based on alpha division.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
