About The Position

The Coordinator, Student Connections and Programming is a hands-on professional who creates a vibrant and engaging campus environment. This role is responsible for the implementation and logistical coordination of a wide array of campus events and programs designed to foster student connection and belonging. The coordinator provides direct support to the Student Programs and Campus Engagement (SPACE) board and helps execute signature events that contribute to a transformative student experience, in alignment with the College’s 8 Student Learning Domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Hospitality, Communication, Marketing, or a related field. (Official transcripts required.)
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting with direct involvement in campus programming, student activities, orientation, or event planning.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.
  • Working knowledge of student engagement principles and best practices in campus activities programming.
  • Strong event planning and logistical coordination skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple details successfully.
  • Excellent advising and interpersonal skills, with an ability to mentor and motivate student leaders.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging and inclusive campus events.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) for marketing and promotion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and a commitment to serving students.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience using a student engagement platform (e.g., Anthology Engage, Presence).
  • Experience directly advising a student programming board.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College, along with a demonstrated commitment to serving students and employees reflecting our community.

Responsibilities

  • Event Planning and Execution: Coordinate the logistical elements of campus-wide programs and signature events, including room reservations, catering orders, technical requests, and vendor communication.
  • Provide on-site management and support for events to ensure a smooth and positive experience for attendees.
  • Assist in the creative planning and brainstorming of new and innovative programs that appeal to a diverse student body.
  • Provide transportation (Must be Van Driver Approved) to and from programs, events, and activities, on-site or off campus.
  • Direct Advising Student Programmers: Provide day-to-day advising and support to the Student Programs and Campus Engagement (SPACE) board members.
  • Assist SPACE with their meetings, event planning processes, and leadership development activities.
  • Guide student programmers in budget management, marketing requests, and event assessment.
  • Marketing and Communication: Create and distribute promotional materials for events, including flyers, social media content, and calendar updates, in collaboration with the Senior Manager and college marketing teams.
  • Engage with students directly through tabling, classroom announcements, and other outreach efforts to promote campus activities.
  • Administrative and Data Support: Process contracts, purchase orders, and other financial paperwork related to events and programs.
  • Track program attendance and collect student feedback through surveys and other assessment tools.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date calendar of all student life events.
  • Collaboration and Campus Presence: Build positive working relationships with campus partners (e.g., facilities, media services, campus safety) to ensure successful event execution.
  • Serve as an energetic and visible presence at student events, actively engaging with students to build community.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other job duties as required. This includes cross training across other SLE areas when applicable.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year. All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours. People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.
