About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to serve as a Substance Use Prevention and Resiliency Program Coordinator, assisting the Prevention Supervisor in the coordination and implementation of required grant strategies. This position will assess, design, coordinate and implement alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs and services for Carroll County through the Bureau of Prevention, Wellness and Recovery at the Carroll County Health Department. This position will support the STOP (Substance Abuse Treatment Outcomes Partnership) grant activities. This position will conduct evidence-based parenting programs in the community and present prevention education programs to all grade levels in CCPS, private schools and higher education settings. This position will also conduct community education and outreach awareness events through presentations and will complete required grant writing, evaluations, reporting and focus groups, including monthly data collection and entry into the State MDS system. This position will facilitate Mental Health First Aid trainings, support community capacity building and incorporate the five-step SPF (Assessment, Capacity, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) process in prevention services and education activities.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in substance use prevention programs.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience instructing youth and/or providing training.
  • Experience with public speaking.
