About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Coordinator / Senior Coordinator for Campus Activities, Student Involvement & Activities [R0149625]. ROLE of the POSITION Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Government and Activities within the Student Involvement & Activities office the Coordinator / Senior Coordinator for Campus Activities works as a part of the Campus Activities team to provide and publicize opportunities for students to participate in the life of the campus through events, traditions, and celebrations. The Coordinator / Senior Coordinator directly co-advises the student Rebel Events Board (REB) in the design and implementation of student events including Homecoming Week, Rebel Wonderland, REB Movie Night, Rebels After Dark, Open Mic Nights, some Spirit Events and other REB events. This position is also responsible for overall REB marketing and promotion. Responsible for ensuring events and involvement opportunities are executed within budget and are effectively promoted and appeal to the student population. This position supervises the Rebel Events Board paid positions and hourly student staff. The Senior Coordinator has an enhanced responsibility to implement needs and impact assessment related to Campus Activities and analyze demographics of participating students and adjust outreach and promotion to broaden student engagement. Through the intentional use of student development theory this position works to enhance a growing sense of campus community, affinity, and involvement. Ability to work evenings and weekends required.

Requirements

  • The Coordinator position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of 2 years relevant full-time experience or 9-months relevant experience as a graduate assistant.
  • The Senior Coordinator position requires four years of relevant full-time experience or two years post master’s relevant full-time experience and experience with supervising student staff.
  • Experience with campus activities; plan and implement campus events
  • Facilitate leadership training for students and/or student organizations
  • Experience marketing programs and involvement to appeal to students
  • Presentation skills; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Translate student development and leadership theory and research into practice
  • Form and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and faculty
  • Work autonomously and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Analyze situations and develop solutions
  • Value a high degree of student contact
  • Work collaboratively with student organizations and University Departments
  • Knowledge of student development and cultural identity development theory
