San Juan College is seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated individual for this full-time, 12 month position of Coordinator, Safety Degree Programs at the San Juan College School of Energy. Requirements

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Possession of at least one industry recognized credential.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions so as to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three to five years of experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of New Mexico for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, prepares and teaches courses; prepares syllabi; assignments and tests; evaluates and records student performance; counsels, tutors, and mentors students.
  • Provides students with responsive and substantive interaction on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of program courses; creates and approves catalog course dates, times and descriptions.
  • Directs and organizes systematic curriculum and program assessment and evaluation activities according to accreditation and college standards; initiates changes, additions or deletions as needed.
  • Identifies relevant regional employer partners and enlists their participation into a supporting advisory committee.
  • Conducts advisory committee meetings.
  • Continuously monitors changing needs of employers and students.
  • Revises program offerings and program structure as warranted.
  • Coordinates program accreditation functions.
  • Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records.
  • Enters program courses into the learning management system.
  • Supervises the work of program instructors; ensures that instructors have needed materials and resources.
  • Resolves student and staff issues and concerns.
  • Participates in student recruitment activities.
  • Serves as the Emergency Response Coordinator for the School of Energy; develops and updates the emergency response and continuity of operations plans; serves as a primary contact in the event of an emergency.
  • Serves on assigned college committees.
  • Performs related duties.
