The Department of Recreational Services is seeking a Coordinator, Recreation Center Operations to join the already awesome team, taking the department to the next level of excellence! Professional development opportunity and mentorship A rapidly growing center within an academic setting Georgia State University Department of Recreational Services is searching for an outstanding candidate to fill the role of Coordinator, Recreation Center Operations. Oversee the coordination of the equipment issue desk and game room. Assist the Associate Director of Operations with informal recreation areas. Manage inventory of equipment issue desk and game room supplies, equipment rentals, gymnasiums, and laundry services. Manage upkeep of equipment to support these areas. Responsible for rentals of 3000 lockers, locker renewals, communicating locker renewal notifications, locker clean-out, impounding of items not removed and combination lock assignment. Responsible for updating and managing lockers and equipment in software program. Assist with the management of the informal recreation spaces that include the racquetball courts, game room, gymnasiums, and daily lockers throughout the facility. Assist with the development and the enforcement of policies and procedures for the informal recreation areas. Assess risk management issues involving patrons participating in informal recreation. Supervise, mentor, evaluate and effectively lead 40 student assistants and 1 Graduate Assistant. Recruit, hire, train, and schedule student staff in the positions at the equipment issue desk and game room. Manages payroll and OneUSG approvals. Primary liaison for department technology, both software and hardware needs. Primary liaison for department with vendor and department software management system for services. Serves as primary liaison for the department with Instructional Innovation & Technology. Basic oversight of technology infrastructure (network, audio, telephone, and network connected devices). Coordinates department technology inventory, ordering and supplies. Assists the Assistant Director Operations in developing and managing security initiatives at the Student Recreation Center, Indian Creek Recreation Area and Panthersville Recreation Complex including key authorizations, security cameras, ID infractions. Assists with the maintenance of security technology such as the Keywatcher, door codes and Panthercard access points. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Hospitality Management or related field
  • 3-5 years recreation management experience with an emphasis on park, recreation, and special event facilities, operations, and administration; direct experience with various facets of position duties.
  • Experience in student development (including hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, payroll, and evaluation).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Operations experience including aspects of locker, informal recreation, equipment, security management.
  • Experience with software programs and technology knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (or obtained within 3 months of employment) and a current driver's license for travel and recreation outdoor trips.
