About The Position

Job Summary Supervises receiving/storeroom and controls inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies to maintain an appropriate level in a cost efficient manner. Supervises technician personnel in the performance of non-clinical functions, including stocking, ordering, and charging of pharmaceuticals. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy is responsible for 1 shift, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Incumbents are subject to overtime and callback as required by the hospital. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Analyzes contracts and availability of inventory using vendor software and contracts to obtain readily available cost-effective medications. Projects future needs of inventory by using current drug usage inforamtion to maintain adequate inventory. Prepares and completes annual inventory by organizing shelving, developing count sheets, entering counts into computer and reviewing/editing for accuracy to obtain an accurate inventory of all medications. Maintains current AWP/cost information in database using PDS updates, Acquistion Cost Update program and direct review of invoices to ensure accurate cost of inventory and patient charges. Performs dispensing functions by profiling and admixing IVs to enhance timely distribution of medications by the Pharmacist. Maintains HBOC database and functionality by testing and updating files, and by building necessary functions to ensure a fully integrated user-friendly, updated computer system. Maintains working knowledge of LaborWorkx application and performs daily maintenance, as needed, to ensure appropriate payroll documentation. Performs additional accounting/bookkeeping duties as needed to ensure proper operation of the department. Performs daily charging and troubleshooting to ensure all possible charges captured. Oversees application of 340B to help ensure compliance. Completes assigned goals. Specifications Experience Minimum Required 2 years as a hospital pharmacy technician involved with calculating and compounding medication orders, operating a computer terminal and basic knowledge of medical terminology. Preferred/Desired 1 years experience in purchasing pharmaceuticals and inventory management. Education Minimum Required Ability to read and write at the high school level. Completion of a technician certification course. Preferred/Desired Training Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Minimum Required EDI, word processing and spreadsheet computer applications. Preferred/Desired HBOC computer applications Licensure Minimum Required PHARM TECH Preferred/Desired

Requirements
