About The Position

Under the direction of the Director, Student Service the Coordinator – Peer Recovery Program will be a working coordinator who is responsible for developing all components of peer-based support and recovery program to provide guidance to students navigating substance use and/or mental health challenges. This is a vital member of the Academic and Student Affairs division and will also leverage lived experience, advocacy skills, and care coordination to serve in the role of Peer Recovery Coach helping our students access campus and community resources, maintain academic progress, and achieve personal wellness goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in a higher education setting.
  • Competent with basic computer applications and documentation systems.
  • Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field required.
  • Self-identify as an individual with life experience of being diagnosed with a substance use disorder.
  • Must be well-established in own recovery; currently in recovery a minimum of two years and have not received SUD treatment for the preceding six months.
  • 2 years of experience in social work, recovery or related discipline.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, student services, counseling, or case management.
  • Experience facilitating support groups or workshops for young adults or students.
  • Familiarity with campus resources, student success programs, and community behavioral health services.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate peer recovery initiatives and activities to ensure alignment and effectiveness to program goals.
  • Develop peer recovery support initiatives, events, and services in collaboration with faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Build and maintain partnerships across campus and external community stakeholders to enhance recovery support programs.
  • Assist with project implementation to ensure goals and objectives are met on schedule.
  • Supervise Peer Recovery Coaches.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, provide requested data aligned to grant reporting requirements.
  • Develop and deliver anti-stigma presentations to the college community and public.
  • Coordinate and execute informational sessions plan, promote and host training events.
  • Provide peer support and mentoring to students in recovery. Provide crisis support and connect students to appropriate emergencies or clinical services.
  • Coordinate referrals to counseling, health services, academic support, housing, and community-based recovery programs.
  • Facilitate peer support groups, workshops, and recovery-focused activities.
  • Advocate and conduct outreach to students within the institution to ensure access to services and resources.
  • Provide outreach and early intervention to students in the pre-contemplation or contemplation stages or experiencing recurrence of symptoms.
  • Act as a liaison between students, campuses, communities, and service organizations to coordinate resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, counselors and Students Service team to prepare students be work ready upon program completion.
  • Track student progress and assist in reporting outcomes to the Director of Student Services.
  • Represent the College and the network in a positive manner, including maintaining a positive attitude and performing duties in alignment with the higher education institution's mission, codes of conduct, and ethical practices.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, conference calls to report progress, and attend trainings and workshops as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the institutional policies, procedures and state regulations.
  • Travel across various campus locations.
