About The Position

The Coordinator of Student Conduct, as a member of the team of the Office of Student Conduct, works collaboratively to manage student behavior, educate students on their roles as responsible and ethical citizens, and ensure accountability for those who fail to meet the expectations. The Coordinator addresses violations of the Code of Student Conduct and Code of Academic Integrity, and ensures the management of administrative processes in a manner that ensures the integrity of the adjudicative process, the maintenance of due process, the coordination of the student judiciary, and the security of students' behavioral records. Work is performed in an office environment and some weekends and evening work will be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of professional residence hall, student conduct, or student affairs management.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Knowledge of judicial processes and student behavior management.
  • Knowledge of student behavior management.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.

Responsibilities

  • Adjudicates cases of alleged student conduct and academic misconduct: Conducts Preliminary Interviews and Disciplinary Conferences for students who are referred for violations of University Policies.
  • Participates in investigations of student organizational misconduct (e.g. hazing)
  • Assists in the facilitation of restorative practice efforts, including but not limited to facilitation of restorative circles, pre-circle conferences, etc.
  • Supports all administrative functions involving referrals of students to the Office of Student Conduct as a result of behavioral and academic integrity violations; Drafts and sends pertinent correspondence, maintains files, responds to telephone inquiries and emails, and keeps appropriate records
  • Ensures due process, confidentiality, efficiency, legal sufficiency, practical efficacy, and fairness of proceedings.
  • Assists in the coordination of administrative and educational sanctions.
  • Participates in the recruitment, selection, and training of the University Student Judiciary (USJ) comprising the Appellate Board, Community Advocates, Student Honor Council, Central Board, and Resident Board.
  • Advises hearings as needed while assuming responsibility for the management of their designated USJ branch/committee.
  • Coordinates proceeding schedules, including orchestration of all parties to conduct proceedings (reporting/responding parties, witnesses, advisors, board members, etc.) locations, and materials.
  • Responsible for data collection and analysis of their designated area in support of departmental assessment initiatives.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Code of Student Conduct and various associated University procedures and policies including hazing, micromobility, use of facilities and outdoor spaces, etc.
  • Maintains availability to University staff and faculty in order to provide consultations regarding conduct referrals and process cases in an efficient manner.
  • Effectively collaborates and maintains relationships with campus partners and community stakeholders such as the Office of Rights and Responsibilities, the University Police Department, the Student Legal Aid Offices, the University Health Center, and the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • Represents the Office of Student Conduct in meetings and committee work with other Departments or University Staff
  • Remains current on issues and trends related to his/her area of specialty, including legal trends, educational programs, and federal or state laws.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Conduct
