About The Position

The Coordinator of Residence Life provides leadership and operational oversight for the University's residential community, advancing a safe, engaging, and educational living environment that supports students' personal, spiritual, and academic development. This position assists with the supervision and development of Community Assistants, oversees the daily management of the Residence Life office, and advises an executive student organization. The Coordinator collaborates closely with colleagues across the Division of Student Affairs, Facilities, Dining Services, and other campus partners to ensure a high-quality residential experience and the effective use of University housing resources. This position reports to the Director of Residence Life and is appointed with the approval of the Assistant Dean of Campus Life, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, and the President of the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; preference given to degrees in Student Affairs, Business, Education, Leadership, or related fields.
  • All candidates much demonstrate a willingness to support the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church; as such candidates must demonstrate an ability and commitment to articulating the University's Catholic mission and identity in an inviting and engaging manner; Preference will be given to those with familiarity with the doctrine of the Church and to practicing Catholics who are in good standing with the Church and under no ecclesiastical restrictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in university settings, Catholic student leadership, and/or team management preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the selection, training, scheduling, evaluation, organization, and daily work of Community Assistants (6–8 student leaders).
  • Support Community Assistants in coordinating and implementing weekly Wednesday night residence hall programs that foster community, leadership development, and personal, spiritual, and academic growth. Attending the weekly Wednesday event is required (generally between 7 PM – 11 PM).
  • Oversee Community Assistants in hospitality and community building initiatives within the halls.
  • Support, interpret, and enforce University and Residence Life policies, procedures, and regulations among staff and residents.
  • Assist with the overall administration and daily operation of residence halls.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Residence Life office during regular business hours.
  • Manage student staff payroll processes, including timecard review, approvals, and coordination with Human Resources.
  • Create, maintain, and adjust student staff work schedules to ensure adequate office coverage and timely student support.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students with housing-related questions, concerns, and referrals, providing accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Draft and distribute clear, timely communications to residents regarding housing updates, deadlines, policies, upcoming events, and community announcements.
  • Serve as the advisor to an executive student organization, providing guidance, mentorship, and leadership development to executive officers.
  • Meet regularly with the organization's president and executive board to support organizational goals, event planning, and effective leadership practices.
  • Attend and support major events, meetings, and initiatives of the organization.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of housing policies and procedures. Serve as a University conduct officer as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation shared among Residence Life coordinators and assistant directors.
  • Respond to and manage residence life emergencies, including incidents involving mental health crises, Title IX concerns, and drug or alcohol use, in collaboration with student leaders and University partners such as UST Police and Counseling Services.
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs offices and University partners to support a safe and supportive residential environment.
  • Serve on University and Student Affairs committees as needed and attend major Campus Life events.
  • Participate in professional development through conferences, professional associations, or enrollment in a graduate degree program.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and/or Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
