About The Position

The Coordinator of Music Ministry directs and develops the liturgical music life of the parish. This role ensures that all music supports the sacred liturgy, fosters active participation of the faithful, and reflects the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. The Coordinator collaborates closely with clergy, staff, and volunteers to plan and execute music for all parish liturgies and special celebrations.

Requirements

  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Catholic liturgical music preferred
  • Strong proficiency in piano or keyboard or guitar; ability to sing and conduct
  • Ability to read and interpret standard musical notation
  • Solid understanding of Catholic liturgy and sacred music
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Working knowledge of sound systems and basic technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and music-related software
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual ability preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate music for all weekend Masses, Holy Days, Obligatory Days and special liturgies
  • Select music that is liturgically appropriate and aligned with the Roman Catholic tradition
  • Lead music for at least one weekend Mass and major liturgical celebrations
  • Coordinate music for weddings, funerals, quinceañeras, and other sacramental celebrations as per the need.
  • Recruit, train, and support cantors, accompanists, and choir members
  • Direct and schedule rehearsals for parish choirs, including coordination with Spanish or bilingual choirs
  • Foster active congregational participation through well-prepared and prayerful music
  • Encourage growth and engagement in all music ministries
  • Work closely with the Pastor and Director of Liturgy in planning liturgies, PPT makers
  • Coordinate with all parish musicians to ensure consistent quality across all Masses
  • Communicate regularly with choir members regarding schedules, music, and parish events
  • Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies, including Safe Environment requirements
  • Maintain and organize the parish music library, including copyright compliance and reporting
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper use of musical instruments and sound equipment
  • Assist in managing the music ministry budget, including purchasing music and supplies with approval
  • Maintain records related to music ministry activities
  • Support the overall mission of the parish through music ministry
  • Demonstrate flexibility and availability for parish needs
  • Perform other music duties as assigned by the Pastor
