About The Position

Drew University is seeking a Coordinator of Media Services in the Instructional Technology Department to support the effective use of the university's physical and digital learning environments. The coordinator plays a key role in delivering high-quality media and classroom technology services to faculty, staff, and students. The coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the Media Resource Center (MRC) and affiliated media labs, ensuring consistent, responsive and customer-focused service. This role supervises, trains and supports student employees who provide audio-visual assistance across campus and is responsible for coordinating students' schedules and approving their timesheets. The coordinator supports classroom and event technology, serving as lead audio-visual technician for high-profile and technically complex events. This is a full-time, non-exempt, 35 hour per week in-person position. Collaboration is central to this role. The coordinator works closely with the Director of Instructional Technology, Media Systems Specialist and other Instructional Technology staff to support campus-wide initiatives, instructional innovation, and community engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience preferred in audio-visual support, media services, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with classroom technology, audio-visual presentation equipment, video production and principles of 3D printing.
  • Strong dedication to customer service and proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to effectively train, supervise and support student workers in a technical services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Media Resource Center and related media labs, ensuring all service requests are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Manage scheduling and timesheet approval for 8–12 student employees, including hiring, coordinating, onboarding, training, and ongoing supervision.
  • Serve as a primary responder to the classroom and event technology hotline and resolve critical instructional and event technology issues during assigned shifts.
  • Provide frontline classroom and event technology support, including on-site troubleshooting and response to service requests.
  • Act as lead technician for high-profile and mission-critical events, including those involving senior leadership and external guests.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of The Nest makerspace, including staffing coordination, user support, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate and oversee evening service coverage for the Media Resource Center event support line.
  • Maintain, update, and contribute to documentation for supported spaces, equipment, and procedures.
  • Research and recommend new classroom, event, and makerspace technologies in collaboration with the Director of Instructional Technology.
  • Participate in recruitment and training of student employees related to technical operations and service delivery.
  • Support mobile audio-visual equipment setup and temporary deployments in locations without permanently installed technology.
  • Participate in planning and coordination meetings related to instructional spaces, event support, and technology upgrades.
  • Train faculty, staff, and students on the use of classroom, event, and media equipment and demonstrate functionality as needed.
