About The Position

The Coordinator of Health Services is responsible for the vision, implementation, and oversight of the school’s comprehensive health program. This individual serves as the primary health authority for the school, ensuring that all students across all three divisions receive high-quality care. Beyond clinical management, the Director acts as a key advisor to the Executive Administration and the Board of Directors, and coordinates emergency preparedness and required training. The Director serves as the lead liaison for health-related practices and communications within the school community.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program, BSN Preferred.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a school health setting or pediatric leadership role.
  • Current CPR - Health Care Provider (BLS) certification; instructor-level certification for CPR and/or First Aid is a plus.
  • Advanced ability to navigate health management database, substitute management, and Google/Microsoft Suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and authoritative in emergencies
  • Confidentiality and discretion to handle sensitive student, family and employee information.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all student health records, ensuring 100% compliance with Texas immunization requirements, Texas HB 300, and HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Ensure accurate and up to date health data is maintained in the clinic database.
  • Coordinate Scoliosis and other screenings as required, including referrals, follow-up, and record-keeping, as mandated by Texas law.
  • Establish and update school-wide health policies, protocols, and standing orders in alignment with current medical best practices as well as Texas Laws/Directives.
  • Act as the primary health liaison for parents, the Board of Directors, and all school divisions.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team for community health alerts.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Department to manage and optimize health program software, electronic health records (EHR), and data security.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the clinic, including student assessments, illness/injury management, and the administration of over-the-counter medications and medications prescribed by physicians.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinic.
  • Establish a safe system for medication administration.
  • Ensure adequate and timely distribution of first aid supplies to classrooms.
  • Oversee the care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders, and severe allergies) and coordinate with external healthcare providers as needed.
  • Establish a safe system of communicable disease containment.
  • Communicate with teachers and parents when indicated.
  • Maintain active memberships in school nurse associations and monitor community, national, and global health trends to advise the Head of School on potential impacts to the campus.
  • Design, deliver, and/or arrange professional development presentations to faculty and staff regarding emergency response, including CPR/AED, Narcan administration, "Stop the Bleed," and other training as needed/requested.
  • Assist in or lead student training as needed.
  • Coordinate with People Operations to ensure online compliance training provides current and necessary health and safety training.
  • Partner with the Facilities and Security teams to ensure the availability and maintenance of emergency medical equipment across campus.
  • Assist with maintaining campus AEDs/Oxygen units, Stop the Bleed kits and Narcan and order supplies when current supplies have expired.
  • Assist with appropriate policy setting for accident prevention and reduction in the school setting.
  • Identify hazards in the school environment and take appropriate action to eliminate or reduce hazards.
  • Assess and treat students.
  • Document findings and treatment in computer.
  • Notify parents as indicated.
  • Administer first aid for emergencies with appropriate follow-up.
  • Ensure accurate and timely logging of all medications for the students.
  • Ensure that the appropriate authorizations are complete.
  • Maintain security of medications.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school.
  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with colleagues, students and parents.
  • Provide relevant counseling and guidance to students and parents.
  • Provide back up as needed to all nursing staff to maintain smooth flow in the clinic.
  • Fulfill other professional responsibilities as assigned.
