About The Position

South Carolina State University, a historically Black university, was founded in 1896 as a land-grant college with a mission of providing education and service to the citizens of South Carolina. Today the mission is still relevant; however, our emphasis is on learning, discovery and engagement, and responding to the needs of a global society. SC State's School of Graduate Studies and Educational Leadership is seeking a Coordinator of Field Instruction (Social Work). The Coordinator of Field Instruction manages practical, hands-on learning experiences for social work students by recruiting and overseeing field agencies and supervisors, assisting students with placement, and ensuring that field education aligns with the curriculum. Primary responsibilities include consulting with field sites, offering support to students and site supervisors, handling administrative tasks, and evaluating the quality of field placements.

Requirements

MSW from a CSWE-approved program
Minimum of 5 years' post-MSW experience in social work practice
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Deep commitment to team development
Effective pedagogical practices, with an ongoing willingness to grow and develop

Nice To Haves

A DSW or a PhD in Social Work
Two years of teaching experience in higher education
Demonstrated understanding of the 2022 CSWE EPAS standards and experience with the CSWE accreditation process
Established record of teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations
