About The Position

This is a hybrid-remote position - incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only, may work 1-2 days a week at an assigned Legacy Health location, and other days may work remotely at home, on the road or in a satellite location for the remainder of their workweek. All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the hybrid schedule. The Medical Staff Privileging Coordinator is an expert in medical staff privileging within the medical staff services department. Under the general direction of the Manager of Medical Staff Services, he/she provides subject matter expertise, and is responsible for the development of medical staff privileges and associated criteria utilized by the medical staff within Legacy. This position is further responsible for the coordination and support associated with privilege form development and privilege form updates on a reoccurring basis. This position serves as a resource for the Medical Staff and department staff, in understanding privileges and the criteria associated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Must meet requirements of Credentialing Specialist (3495) and have a minimum of four years of experience in credentialing and privileging professional staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of all Medical Staff accountabilities and functions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of privacy laws, regulations and national standards that govern Medical Staff.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Functions independently to complete responsibilities in defined timeframes
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with, and relate positively to, all levels of professionals.
  • Ability to withstand varying job pressures, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct research for the development of privilege criteria.
  • Familiarity with clinical data systems.
  • Promotes team work within the department through effective communication skills
  • Ability to provide ongoing training in a group setting.
  • Computer proficient with applicable software and hardware.
  • Understands the need to manage change and diversity.
  • Complete tasks with minimal errors.
  • Extremely detail oriented and able to follow through on tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruption.
  • Certification in Certified Professional Medical Services Management or as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist required within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical coding preferred.
