About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator for the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program. - Boca Raton, FL. The Coordinator for the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program is responsible for coordinating programs, events, and engagement initiatives that increase the retention and matriculation of program participants within the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars program. This position reports directly to and works closely with the Assistant Director of First-Generation Student Success, to engage program participants in a meaningful college experience aimed at accomplishing the program mission of graduating low-income first-generation college students’ debt-free. Additionally, the Coordinator supports all aspects of the program to include recruitment, graduation, and philanthropic programming, while specifically coaching freshmen and sophomore participants through the 17-point pathway program curriculum.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

  • Selected candidates must successfully complete and pass all employment screenings prior to the start of employment. Employment screenings may include a criminal background check (level I and level II), motor vehicle check, credit check, reference checks, alcohol, and drug screening check.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the Kelly/Strul Scholars selection and recruitment process.
  • Facilitating Kelly/Strul orientation sessions, onboarding, meet-ups, and programming in collaboration with the Kelly/Strul Registered Student Organization.
  • Provide support to the Assistant Director in the co-facilitation of the First-Generation SLS Course curriculum and class instruction.
  • Management of the peer-to-peer mentoring program to ensure participants are intentionally paired with a mentor.
  • Monitoring student progress and creating intervention strategies through the Kelly/Strul Academic Success Retention Plan.
  • Communicating regularly with students and ensuring they are aware of programs that may be counted towards their curriculum requirements.
  • Developing program engagement and “touch-point” programs that align with the “17-point pathway” program curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate records and host regular meetings with students to maintain a pulse of their overall collegiate experience and progress within the program, specifically focusing on students under 60 credit hours of study.
  • Provide support and representation at Office of First-Generation Student Success events during the summer, fall, and spring semesters.
  • Serve as advisor to the Kelly/Strul Registered Student Organization.
  • Collect data and assist with the end-of-year reporting and reports to the Kelly/Strul Executive Board.
  • Participate in institutional, divisional, and department-wide events as needed.
  • Stay current on research and best practices for encouraging first-generation student success.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
