About The Position

The College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) at CU Boulder launched Engineering Connections (EC) in Fall 2023 to support the academic, social, career, mental health and wellness needs of its students. Using a comprehensive and inclusive approach to student recruitment, persistence, and holistic success, the First-Year Experience (FYE) in Williams Village seeks to intentionally bring together all the resources necessary to create an equitable and robust student experience. This position will work to create a community in which each student feels a sense of belonging and community through events and programming focusing on wellness, service learning, and academic support. Additionally, this position serves as a highly accessible student-facing presence engaging in all-around support of the First Year Experience; building partnerships with campus partners and stakeholders within CEAS and the wider university community. This role will be expected to work some evenings and late-night hours. Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
One year of experience with event management, student programming, or other related work related to position description and job description.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in the social sciences, engineering, higher education, college student personnel or other related field.
1 - 2 years student programmatic experience at an institution of higher education which could include weekly/evening/late night programs, well-being programs, etc.
Demonstrated ability in organizing and facilitating student event programs and operational responsibilities.
Demonstrated participation in long-range and short-range strategic planning processes.
Working knowledge in program assessment and developing learning outcomes.
Working knowledge of student development theory.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures and backgrounds.
Student staff supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Creates, designs, plans, and manages programs to support strategic goals of improving holistic wellness, increase student's sense of belonging, fosters an environment that supports academic success, and helps develop connections to the larger campus and local communities.
Coordinates and leads portions of large-scale Engineering Connections student engagement programs, including Engineering Launch, summer orientation programming, and family support initiatives.
Supports implementation of fall welcome events within CEAS and Williams Village
Develops and assesses student learning and program outcomes for events and programming initiatives, using data to inform, enhance, and improve program offerings.
Work collaboratively with campus partners that support and work with student engagement and programming initiatives.
Manages program budgets for both large- and small-scale programming and department initiatives that this role oversees.
Plans, coordinates and collaborates with campus and CEAS partners to build a robust programming platform and curriculum to navigate resources for student wellness based on wellness frameworks (8 Dimensions of Wellness, Okanagan Charter, etc.)
Develops and implements service-learning initiatives that integrate community engagement with the First-Year Experience curriculum to promote student development and civic responsibility.
Supports student staff at events by directing their work in a meaningful way through program planning, budgeting, scheduling, and outreach to campus partners.
Works with identified faculty/departmental staff to organize fall semester major dinners to increase faculty engagement with Engineering Connections students.
Assists Academic Success Program Manager with logistics for academic success workshops and programming.
Receives & shares updates regarding current student trends and programmatic efforts with CEAS partners like the Student Support & Advising Services team including both Academic Advising & Academic Success, the Campos Student Center, RAP/LLC programs, Service Learning & Impact in Community Engagement (SLICE), Health Promotions, and the embedded CAPS services to inform collaborations and programming opportunities.
Serves as a trusted resource for student support for staff and faculty involved in the Engineering Connections First Year Experience.
Serves on a programming team for Engineering Connections in conjunction with the Events & Community Building Coordinator and the Assistant Director of First Year Experience to lead the vision of programming in the residential community.
Supports Admitted Buff Day, Engineering Sampler, and other events to increase engagement with potential CU Boulder CEAS students and their families.
Collaborates with student organizations and student societies to design programs and initiatives that engage first-year students around wellness, service learning, and academic success.
Participates in campus-wide meetings, committees, and working groups to stay informed of campus initiatives, foster cross-campus collaboration, and find opportunities to enhance program impact.
Supervises 3-5 student employees, providing direct supervision, mentorship, and evaluation; fostering professional growth, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
Assists or leads the processes to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees.
Provides guidance to student employees to set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that contribute to the department's goals and vision.
Ensures that all federal, state, university, and departmental hiring procedures are followed.
Provides oversight for an annual budget of funds for student events and programs.
Maintains accurate budget expenditure records and plans for future contingency funds.
Administers all fiscal processes with maximum integrity and timeliness.
Follows all federal, state, university, and departmental budget procedures.
Other related duties as assigned which could include supporting and working Engineering Connections events, committee appointments, providing informational and passive programming, and facilitating presentations.
Participates in professional development opportunities that increase knowledge and understanding of First Year Experience, engineering education, student involvement, etc.
