About The Position

Primary Purpose: Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program in the subject area assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree preferred from accredited university with a major in assigned subject
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Knowledge of planning, staff development, and accreditation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and technology skills
Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills, and relate positively to the staff
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Skilled in the use of computers and computer software
Five years teaching experience in subject area assigned

Responsibilities

Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
Collaborate with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area.
Plan, improve, and oversee testing programs for the assigned subject area.
Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area.
Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area.
Engage web-based tools for communication, dissemination of information and productivity.
Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area and general C&I related processes.
Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Conduct extensive surveys to determine needs at specific levels of education district wide.
Coordinate a district wide staff development calendar.
Serve as a resource to teachers, principals, district staff, and the community.
Research best practice related to specialized areas and work to secure training.
Establish a database to track attendance and follow-up on all scheduled training.
Assist in the development efforts for district professional development publications, including online catalogs for training opportunities.

Secure consultants, speakers and presenters.
Disseminate training information through professional development catalog, newsletters, and website.
Conduct evaluations related to scheduled training.
Develop creative ways to deliver training to all staff (teachers, teacher assistants, bus drivers, therapists, administrators, etc.).
Determine when out of district training is necessary.
Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
