About The Position

The Curriculum & Instruction Specialist plays a critical role in advancing Joyce University’s academic mission. This position partners closely with faculty, deans, instructional designers, and external stakeholders to create fully standardized, engaging, and outcomes-driven courses across multiple learning modalities. As a faculty member, the CIS builds upon the instructor role by advancing teaching effectiveness, contributing to scholarship and service, and supporting accreditation and continuous improvement efforts. You will bring both heart and rigor to your work — blending educational innovation with accountability, integrity, and care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (Doctoral or professional doctorate preferred)
  • Unencumbered RN license or appropriate licensure for content area
  • 3–5 years of successful teaching experience in nursing or health sciences
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum design, program evaluation, accreditation standards, online and onsite teaching, and active learning strategies

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve nursing and health sciences curricula
  • Ensure course content aligns with approved competencies, learning outcomes, and professional standards
  • Integrate learning experiences across didactic, online and hybrid formats, simulation and skills labs (SimCare Center), clinical and experiential learning, and virtual or immersive learning environments
  • Collaborate with Learning Experience Designers (LXDs) to build high-quality LMS course shells
  • Select, evaluate, and integrate textbooks, simulation tools, and digital learning technologies
  • Apply active learning and evidence-based teaching strategies that promote engagement and critical thinking
  • Develop comprehensive assessments and rubrics for assignments, labs, simulations, and clinical experiences
  • Ensure learning is appropriately leveled across courses and programs
  • Conduct curriculum mapping, gap analyses, and program evaluations
  • Analyze outcomes data and translate insights into meaningful improvements
  • Map curricula to AACN Essentials, ACEN, CCNE, and state regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with institutional and professional accreditation standards
  • Contribute to accreditation self-studies, site visits, and continuous quality improvement documentation
  • Support faculty with course design, pedagogy, and delivery best practices
  • Develop standardized course templates, faculty guides, and evaluation tools
  • Promote scholarly teaching, innovation, and evidence-based education
  • Participate in nursing education research, IRB-supported initiatives, professional conferences, and publications
  • Serve on institutional committees and engage in ongoing professional development
