About The Position

The Coordinator, Central Texas Healthcare Academy (CTHA), serves as the primary support contact for high school students participating in ACC’s healthcare-focused Career Academy pathways. The Coordinator works directly with independent school district (ISD) partners, ACC Health Sciences departments, Workforce Solutions Capital Area, and industry and clinical partners to expand student access to high-quality healthcare career exploration, early college credit, credential attainment, and employment pathways. This position provides outreach, advising, enrollment coordination, scheduling support, and student persistence interventions while maintaining a strong presence on designated high school campuses and within regional healthcare workforce networks.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of student support services, college advising, and academic pathway planning.
  • Understanding of healthcare career fields, workforce credentialing, and/or clinical training pipelines (or ability to learn quickly).
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with ISD partners, faculty, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to work effectively with students and families.
  • Organizational, project coordination, and follow-through skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to use spreadsheets, student information systems, CRM tools, and Google Workspace applications.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Interpreting and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Making individual and group presentations.
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinating administrative support services.
  • Making travel arrangements and processing related documentation.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • Two years related work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience cannot be substituted for education.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation needed for local Austin area travel.

Responsibilities

  • Student Advising & Success Support Serves as the primary student support contact for Central Texas Healthcare Academy pathways.
  • Provides targeted academic advising, including onboarding, degree planning, mid-semester progress checks, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) discussions, and referral to ACC support services.
  • Coordinates and delivers CTHA-specific new student orientations.
  • Maintains a consistent presence at assigned high schools to support student enrollment, progress, and belonging.
  • Guides students and families in understanding healthcare career opportunities, certification requirements, clinical expectations, and continuing education pathways.
  • Enrollment, Scheduling & Program Operations Assists in the development of semester and annual course schedules with ISD partners and ACC program departments.
  • Ensures accuracy of student registration, class rosters, and schedule adjustments.
  • Supports faculty assigned to high school locations with facility/access needs and course delivery logistics.
  • Tracks enrollment patterns, persistence data, and program outcomes for reporting and improvement efforts.
  • Coordinates and facilitates healthcare-focused career exploration presentations, recruitment events, parent nights, and classroom engagements.
  • Conducts recruitment strategies that intentionally support historically underserved and underrepresented student populations.
  • Industry and Workforce Partnerships Collaborates with the Workforce Solutions Capital Area K-12 Healthcare Coordinator to: Organize employer engagement events, site visits, job shadowing, and internship/clinical observation opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of local healthcare labor market trends and employer workforce needs.
  • Develops and sustains relationships with industry partners, community-based organizations, and healthcare employers to expand work-based learning access.
  • Supports regional efforts to align healthcare education-to-workforce pipelines.
  • Program Development & Continuous Improvement Works with ACC Health Sciences faculty and leadership to ensure pathways remain aligned to credentialing and progression into degree programs.
