About The Position

The Catering Services Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing catering services for university events, meetings, and special functions. This role supports the university's dining services by coordinating food and beverage logistics, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. The Catering Coordinator works closely with campus departments, vendors, and kitchen staff to ensure successful and seamless execution of events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in catering, hospitality, or event coordination.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external catering requests.
  • Coordinate event logistics including menu selection, service style, staffing, timing, and setup requirements.
  • Develop event orders and confirm details with clients to ensure expectations are met.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  • Conduct site visits and pre-event consultations as needed.
  • Follow up with clients post-event to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of events, contracts, billing, and payments.
  • Schedule and coordinate catering staff, including set-up and breakdown crews.
  • Communicate with the culinary team regarding food preparation timelines and dietary needs.
  • Monitor and order catering supplies such as linens, utensils, serving equipment, and décor.
  • Assist in sourcing specialty items or working with external vendors when required.
  • Ensure all events comply with university policies, health regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Monitor event sites for cleanliness and ensure proper food handling procedures are followed.
