About The Position

The Coordinated Entry DV Specialist for the Community Office provides a range of direct services to survivors of domestic violence at our Community Office located on the ground floor at 1175 Howard Street.  The Community Office is a drop-in center open Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 4:30pm. The Community office provides services and resources to survivors of Domestic Violence. This position will work with other DV trained staff, for clients who are referred to the Riley Center, by drop-ins or follow up services from residents who participated in one of our DV shelter programs. This is a full-time, non-exempt, union position working 40 hours per week with some evening and weekend shifts as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling social work or related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience closely related to the job description.
  • 40-Hours of Domestic Violence Training from California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV).
  • Substantial or demonstrated knowledge/experience working with individuals in crisis or unstable housing situations.
  • A strong knowledge of issues confronted by and sensitivity to adults with substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, history of trauma and co-occurring diagnoses.  
  • Demonstrated respect for, experience with and willingness to work with a diverse client population.  
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the resources available to homeless and low-income residents of San Francisco.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
  • Professional and discreet demeanor with good interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information and use tact, respect, discretion, and judgement.
  • Organize material, information, and/or people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize harm or duplication of efforts.
  • Collaborative work style with demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as an individual and part of a team for successful outcomes.
  • Excellent computer skills and average ability in Microsoft Office software are required.
  • Knowledge of the ONE and HOPE Systems preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively with clients, volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes as our Coordinated Entry activities respond to lessons learned and emerging needs.

Responsibilities

  • Screen and assess domestic violence survivors using standardized data-based tools, including prioritization and referral protocols integrated into the HOPE system.
  • Provide Coordinated Entry Housing Assessments for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Use the ONE System to only gather the possible client's Unique Identification (UID) number
  • Triage clients appropriately when they are coming into the community office to access services.
  • Use a collaborative, client-centric, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and a range of services to support survivors of domestic violence in avoiding entry to shelter or the experience of street homelessness. (e.g. helping those seeking services to safely remain in their current living situation, or identify immediate alternate, safe housing arrangements).
  • Engage survivors and their households in problem solving conversations in identifying strength based, creative solutions to solve their housing crisis and refer them to the appropriate problem-solving site.
  • Provide services around complex issues while maintaining professionalism and centering compassionate, traum informed and harm reduction techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention assistance as needed.
  • Attend housing conferences as necessary, actively advocating for the client’s needs during their housing crisis.
  • Keep accurate records and charts; enter required data in Salesforce and HOPE System within 24 hours while ensuring confidentiality of participant information as legally required.
  • Follow SVDP and HSH policies as outlined in procedural guides.
  • Assist with monthly reports on service numbers, clients served, and achievements as well as other pertinent quantitative outcomes to Supportive Services Supervisor, Program Director, and other executive staff and Coordinated Entry external partners as requested.
  • Provide professional, accessible and culturally relevant support, advocacy and information to program participants at all times.
  • Serve as liaison to community-based and governmental service partners as requested.
  • Participate in staff training, staff meetings, and development activities as directed.
  • Engage effectively and constructively with the Community Office Program Manager to implement program refinements in the best interests of service users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
