About The Position

Manages and coordinates district-wide language and interpreting services provided by the team of Parent Outreach Translators and Language Translation Specialists. Manages the delivery of translation and interpretation services for parents and school faculty and staff; oversees school and/or district translation support assignments based on school needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Required
• 5+ years relevant work experience

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of Translation and Interpretation field, including best practices, types, modes, CAT programs, interpreting equipment (headsets/receivers), etc.; Familiarity with request systems for assigning translators and interpreters.
• Preferred: Bilingual

Responsibilities

• Assists MNPS schools and offices by assigning interpreters for meetings, events, conferences of NELB families.
• Schedules, supervises, assists, and recommends best practices for implementation by MNPS Parent Outreach Translators (POT) and Language Translation Specialists (LTS).
• Keeps accurate records and documentation on POTs, LTSs, and their duties.
• Supervises POTs and LTSs, supports, mediates, assists, and provides guidance to in the resolving of issues they may face in their daily duties.
• Collects and compiles data as it pertains to NELB family communications, school requests and district requests.
• Collaborates with other offices of MNPS and community entities related to supporting multilingual families.
• Provides communication/trainings to District and School Administrators related to best practices, services, systems and procedures for supporting translation and interpreting supports across district.
• Evaluates, interviews, and hires new candidates for POT and LTS positions.
• Secures, manages, and provides trainings for POTs and LTSs, including Translation Accuracy, Interpretation Procedures, Parent Communication, Job Effectiveness, etc.
• Works with external translation and interpretation service agencies and providers for additional language needs of MNPS families.
