About The Position

Provide support to Seminole’s commercial business activities, including natural gas trading, pipeline scheduling and fuels procurement. Collect and analyze supply/demand and other relevant information on energy commodities in Florida and the Southeast United States. Produce actionable market intelligence for Seminole to make informed energy trading/risk management decisions. Provide mid-office support (e.g. trade capture management, credit and Mark-to-Market monitoring and reporting) for trading activities.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify various solutions for meeting daily fuel and power requirements.
  • Mathematical aptitude to evaluate relative values of trading alternatives to support Seminole’s power supply needs.
  • Co-op students are expected to be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester, maintain a 2.75 GPA, and work approximately 20 hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers market intelligence and develops reports to inform commercial operations department of relevant market conditions and opportunities/challenges.
  • Reconciles gas pipeline and storage statements and inputs activity into energy trading and risk management (“ETRM”) software system(s).
  • Identifies enhancement opportunities in ETRM software for deal capture and reporting of energy trading and fuel procurement activity.
  • Maintains price, cost and other required inputs in ETRM software to support reporting and settlements.
  • Provides reconciliation review of energy transactions to identify discrepancies and correct errors.
  • Provides administrative support for contract development, document retention and administration of executed agreements.
  • Generates various price forecasts and other needed assumptions inputs to support generation planning studies. Also reviews and identifies improvements to the existing processes and internal tools used to generate forecasted fuel and market prices.
  • Provides support for various division reporting functions (i.e., risk management, power supply coordination meetings, etc.)
  • Provides review of various planning assumptions to ensure accuracy and support gathering, maintenance and administration of assumptions.
  • Supports natural gas scheduling activity on pipelines and/or storage facilities. Learns basic gas nomination skills.
  • Develops an understanding of power/fuels/natural gas contracts and tariffs.
  • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.
  • NERC Compliance: Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and your duties and responsibilities in the SOM.
