About The Position

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving healthy, flavorful meals to patients and staff under the supervision of the Dietary Director. The role includes ensuring all meals meet hospital standards, assisting with various dietary tasks standards in food preparation and service.

Requirements

  • High school graduation preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience cooking in a large institutional or healthcare/hospital kitchen setting. Psychiatric health care facility, is preferred.
  • Food Handlers Permit /ServSafe certificate required.
  • Knife Skills: Proficiency in chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing ingredients efficiently and safely.
  • Cooking Techniques: Mastery of various methods such as sautéing, boiling, grilling, roasting, and braising.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage kitchen operations effectively under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow specific dietary requirements and recipes accurately.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexible to cater to changing menus and dietary needs of patients.
  • Customer Service: Providing exceptional service to patients, staff, and guests.
  • Safety Practices: Observing and promoting safety in the workplace, including adherence to sanitary procedures for handling, cooking, and serving food.
  • Inventory Management: Assisting with counting food inventory monthly and maintaining kitchen equipment.
