About The Position

Are you a skilled culinary professional with a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences? We are seeking an experienced and dependable Cook to join our Culinary Services team. This is a key role in our kitchen, as this position is the first cook onsite each morning and sets the tone for the day’s service. We are looking for a skilled professional who can work independently, solve problems confidently, and ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and on time for our residents. We are currently looking for a Dietary Aide to join our team and help create a dining experience that nurtures both body and soul. This role is responsible for preparing and serving breakfast and lunch while maintaining high culinary standards and meeting therapeutic diet requirements. The Cook will also work on the floors during service, ensuring meals are presented and delivered with care from a culinary perspective. Because this position opens the kitchen each scheduled shift, a minimum of three (3) years of prior cooking experience is required. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or healthcare environment, preferred.
  • Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Some knowledge of nutrition.
  • Possesses ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Must use sound judgement, works well under pressure, and possess strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary school experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
  • Prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
  • Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders.
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
  • Ensure that food portions and food presentations meet ECP Standards.
  • Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
  • Assisting other cooks to ensure that meal service is completed in a timely manner
  • Efficiently resolving problems with resident orders
  • Completes all necessary logs and quality checklists as specified as well as cleaning and sterilizing food preparation areas.
  • Attain proficiency and ability to fill in for steward as needed.
  • Attain basic proficiency and ability fill in for line cook as needed.
